Windstorm and Tornado Damage
Experiencing a severe windstorm first hand, such as a tornado, is something one doesn’t ever forget. The noise from the wind, flying debris and sound of the roof being torn from above your head is truly unforgettable. The first precaution is to always remember to make sure you have wind, flood and fire coverage under your property insurance policy. During the aftermath of hurricane Wilma in 2005 so many property owners were passed from coverage to coverage. The insurance company’s insurance adjuster played the game of musical chairs with so many victims of that storm. The insureds were told they have to cover their deductible and almost all claims were divided up between wind or flood policies. The roof damage was covered under wind with a separate deductible and depreciation of value. Then the damage claims from the boat docks that blew away had to satisfy a separate deductible. The adjusters played shuffle the claimant here and then shuffle them over there.

You work too hard to pay those insurance premiums every month and when in the midst of a loss, the last thing you need is to be given the run-around by your insurance company. The insurance company needs to be made aware of their full obligation to you. Insurance policies are for your protection, they are not meant to add to your headache.
Three Types of Insurance Adjusters
- Staff - employee of the insurance company
- Independent - contractor hired by insurance company
- Public - represents the consumer
I can not stress enough how important it is that you make sure you are represented by a Public Adjuster. When Public Adjuster John Moynagh is representing you, he is there to level the playing field between you and your insurance company. He is someone who is informed and familiar with the territory. Whether you are just starting to figure out what all has occurred and you haven’t filed any claim as of yet - or you have recently, in the past five years, made a settlement with your insurance company. There are all types of factors that go into deciding what your true losses are. Not everything may be clear and/or obvious in the beginning. There are usually mitigating circumstances which are not obvious at first. When trouble has occurred, it is often hard to keep a cool head and steady hand in dealing with all the formalities, forms, estimates, statements and accounting. This is the time for you to hire a Public Adjuster to take over the negotiations and relieve some of the stress from your shoulders. John Moynagh does not charge any fee up front. He only gets paid a percentage of what he settles with the insurance company on your behalf.
Before giving any formal statement or accounting to the police and/or your insurance company, it is best to have your own Public Adjuster involved. However, even if you have started negotiations or have already settled your claim, there is still time to hire John Moynagh and get a fair and maximum settlement. A Public Adjuster, preferably John Moynagh, should review your insurance claim to make certain your claim was paid properly. All claims that may have been denied and/or not paid properly or to their fullest reasonable settlement may be re-opened on your behalf. There is no fee for this service unless your Public Adjuster is successful in securing you a new or adjusted settlement.
